About the STL Local Satsangs
During the Saint Louis local Ram Dass satsangs we will dive deeper in relationship with Ram Dass and our local community.
We’ll explore Ram Dass teachings as we learn to navigate our spiritual and human journeys with humor, honesty, and harmony.
We’ll focus on topics relevant to our ordinary lives, including:
Love & Compassion
Meditation & Mindfulness
Expanding Consciousness
Service & Social Action
Relationships
Death and Dying
And much much more
We’ll explore what it means to Love, Serve, and Remember.
Why Satsang is Important...
“If I go into the place in myself that is love,
and you go into the place in yourself that is love,
we are together in love.
Then you and I are truly in love,
the state of being love.
That’s the entrance to Oneness.
That’s the space I entered when I met my guru.”

"Working with the dying is like
being a midwife for this
great rite of passage of death.
Just as a midwife helps a being
take their first breath,
you help a being
take their last breath.”

The Foundations for
Holding Spiritual Hospitality
with Each Other
Below are a few guidelines for participating in a satsang.
The goal is to create a safe space for group discussions.
While only you can determine if this space is safe for you, we work together to create a sense of belonging.
Therefore, to enable one another the deepest experience possible, we ask:
Each person to take full responsibility for themself and allow for the same of other participants. Part of this means making “I-statements,” speaking about my own experiences rather than commenting on or referring to another member.
Avoid giving unsolicited advice to other participants. If someone asks for feedback, try to maintain a stance of loving witness rather than expert.
Stay on topic given for the meeting and keep close to the teachings of Ram Dass and Maharaji.
Work together to create a space for growth, which will include making mistakes and holding each other accountable.
Allow each person equal time to share, recognizing we all have wisdom to impart and things to learn from each other. This means allowing for different viewpoints to exist simultaneously and being willing to take what I like and leave the rest.
Some people here are new to the teachings and some have been involved for a long time. Everyone is invited to share their experience and recognize that none of us are masters; we are all on the path of learning together.
Also know that some people are introverts, and some extroverts. So allow yourself to go against your grain a little with this. If someone unintentionally monopolizes the conversation, our host will give a gentle reminder by inviting someone else to share.
Refrain from any sort of self-promotion or advertising.
This is not a self-help or therapy group.
We want to do our best to make this a supportive and inclusive community. Sometimes that means asking for help.

“In our Western culture,
although death has come out of the closet,
it is still not openly experienced or discussed.
Allowing dying to be so intensely present
enriches both the preciousness of each moment
and our detachment from it.”
